Welcome!

The Terra Hunting Experiment is the most intensive search ever attempted for Earth-like planets around the nearest Sun-like stars. By collecting data every night for at least 10 years with a state-of-the-art instrument on an automated telescope (HARPS3 on the Isaac Newton Telescope), the Terra Hunting Experiment will search for planets with roughly the same mass and surface temperature as the Earth. Although such planets may be very common in the Galaxy, the previous generation of planet-finding surveys have lacked the quantity and quality of data to detect them securely.

The Terra Hunting Experiment is expected to start before the end of 2025. For more information about the different aspects of our project please follow the links above. We will post new project information here as it becomes available so please check back regularly for updates.
